Builders Blog Update 23.4.08

Works were started on the 7th April to carry out cleaning, removal of debris, decorating and repairs to roofing, gutters and drainage.

Flat roof above art room:

The roof shows signs of extensive blistering and will require repairs in the short term/ replacement in the near future.

The gutters from the main building roof are poor and need replacing as do some 10 -12 damaged slates.
(NB access to the roof is easy from the adjacent property)

Hall gutters:

The main hall rear gutter is mostly blocked and requires clearing out to avoid water spilling over onto the walls. FRE to hire tower to clear gutters ( and take down internal curtains)

Main roof spaces:

Access was gained to the main roof spaces. There was no insulation at all and the existing hall open ventilator grills mean that heat escapes straight to the ventilated roof void. This requires an urgent response, as all heat in the hall will be lost in cold weather within about 20 min.!!

FRE to check on pigeon access to main roof and block up entry points.

Other works;

Hall curtains to be taken down and retained for council (FRE)

Carpet in the (new g/fl) café to be taken up. Quality of floor to be assessed.(FRE)

BGCBC (Frank Olding) to be sounded out for early start on essential works to drainage under building. (GC)

Heating engineer on site – the boiler gas flue dilution ventilation is not safe. (BGCBC)

Unless otherwise instructed painting to be magnolia for walls, white for ceilings.
